Walking into My Calling
To God be the Glory, for His Grace upon my life for giving me the opportunity and privilege to serve in His vineyard. I am what I am by His grace. I heard the voice of the LORD, saying ‘Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then I said, “Here am I! Send me!” And He said, ‘Go, and tell my people: All the waiting, prophesying has finally come to pass. It is a great joy that I am here.
Growing up prepared her for the journey that her life would take. As a child she was brought up in a very strict Christian home where no one was exempt from the daily 5.00am devotional sessions. At these times her family were attending the Church of God Mission Int. she drew much of her inspiration from the late Archbishop Benson Idahosa. Because of this passion for God, she always accompany her Grandmother to fellowship. It was through these trips that her yearning to know Christ more and having a relationship with God by studying the bible as well as prayer and worship. She took an active role in her church’s activities and joined the choir in both her own church and her aunt’s church, in addition to teaching the Sunday school. When she progressed to college, she was easily distinguished amongst her fellow students because of her simplicity and fear of God. This would result in her election to Chapel Prefect and a member of the Scripture Union.
When she faced a very different upbringing from the life she knew, it started to affect her zeal to do the work of Christ. So she began to look for churches to re-ignite the fire of God in her, but failing to find any she decided to put her Christian work on hold to pursue wealth and begin a family. By the year 2003, God sent her to the ‘school of marriage’, what she terms the period of disturbance within her marriage. After finding a place of worship like the churches she attended while living in Nigeria, God began to dwell in her again. Humbled by the experience, the fire of God began to come alive in her again. Slowly He transformed the characteristics, such as her anger and quick temper, which were preventing her calling from manifesting. Over the last seven years God was preparing her by placing her to serve under a great man of God. While serving her passion for the work of God grew tremendously as she devoted her time, energy and strength into the building of the ministry for several years. By 2004, God started revealing her ministry to her. In a dream she recalls being given a lit candle, in another encounter a sword while sitting on a white horse. In another dream in 2006, she found herself driving along a road and suddenly as she stopped, there were babies crawling out from everywhere. Hundreds of babies crawling all round her as she just stood there. Despite these dreams she kept serving under her pastor, telling herself it was not her time. She believed that she needed to be a servant first to be able to fulfill her calling. The book of Habakkuk 2:3 says “For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.” Serving brought out the best in her. She needed to be a fool for Christ’s sake as 1 Corinthians 4:10 says, “We are fools for Christ’s sake, but you are wise in Christ!” and Mark 10:45 says, “For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
The vision became clearer in the year 2009, when Pastor Edith travelled to Israel as part of a spiritual retreat. As a direct result of this retreat, God had begun revealing her ministry to her. A period of intense reflection for her, she had come to the decision that her time in her current church was rapidly coming to an end. Serving in her church had become a burden to her and she knew she wasn’t fulfilling her calling. Duties that were once happily performed were now an encumbrance it was only the love that Pastor Edith had for the work of God that sustained her to the end even when her spirit has departed from there. But she continued to serve God wholeheartedly and wait on him. But by 2011 she found herself begging God to give her the strength to finish her work in her present church. Pastor Edith recalls, how a Woman of God told her that if she failed to answer the call of God in her life that she would receive a flogging from the Holy Spirit. But Pastor Edith found herself resisting again, telling the Holy Spirit that the vocation was too ‘great’ for her. But God continued to manifest his power in her despite her resistance.
But all through her struggles she would remember what was written in John 15: 16 ,“You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit —fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you”. She finally gave in and decided to put God first and answer her calling. In November 2011, she took a bold step of faith and travelled to Nigeria to preach and set time aside to consult God for direction. While waiting on God for direction, the name of her ministry ‘Glorious Kings Fire Ministries’ was revealed to her.
The vision for her ministry is taken from Isaiah 58: 6-14, “To lose the chain of injustice, to break the yoke, set the oppressed free, to share food with the hungry, to provide shelter for the homeless and the poor, to cloth those that are naked.”
Pastor Edith’s vision is to travel the world preaching, performing miracles through his Grace. Affecting lives by the power of the Holy Spirit, to bring laughter and hope and joy to people’s lives and love everyone just as Christ loved us all. She models herself on the late Kathryn Kuhlman, an American preacher famous for God’s ability to heal through her.
Pastor Edith has undergone several years of spiritual and biblical training which has elevated her to the position of pastor, leader, teacher and mentor. She is gifted via her ministration, reaching to lost souls. She has ministered abroad in several different churches. All glory be to God for making her. A proud wife, mother, (Both Biological and Spiritual) Grandmother, Sister and a friend to all that comes her way. She has also affected a lot of lives positively.
